Borderlands 3 getting a level cap increase and skippable cutscenes

In the latest post on Borderlands 3’s website, developer Gearbox revealed changes coming to the game over the next few months.

Coming in Borderlands 3’s Feb. 13 patch, players can increase their level from the previous cap of 50 to the new cap of 53. As usual, each level comes with a skill point for players to acquire new abilities or enhance old ones. In the same patch, players will gain the ability to skip cutscenes — regardless of whether they’ve seen them before.

Also coming in the February patch is the new True Takedown Mode. This is difficult mode players can opt-into before Takedown content. According to Gearbox, it’s designed to be the hardest content in all of Borderlands 3.

The February patch also brings the Broken Hearts Day Valentine’s in-game event, which players now have the ability to opt-out of. And finally, players will be able to disable Guardian Rank perks once they’ve acquired them — taking away some well-earned bonuses in favor of difficulty.

Gearbox also touched on some features coming in March, such as improvements to the Fight for your Life system, Mayhem 2.0, and an expansion to the Twitch Echocast extension, which lets viewers collect the same loot that their favorite streamers are collecting.
