Valorant guide: How to play as Sage

Sage is a Sentinel Agent who excels at healing her team and controlling nearby areas of the map. Her Healing Orb can help keep her and her allies healthy, while her Resurrection ultimate can bring an unfortunate teammate back to life. She also has a wall that can block off areas of the map and entire entrances, as well as a slowing field that can reduce the movement speed of anyone in it to a crawl.

Here are all of Sage’s abilities and a few tricks on how to use each one.

Ability: Barrier Orb

Conjure a large, solid wall. Right-click to rotate the wall before casting.

Tips:

  • This giant wall has several different segments, each of which has its own individual health bar that can be destroyed. Sage doesn’t have a way through the wall (other than shooting it) and neither do her teammates, so if you wall yourself in somewhere, make sure you won’t need to get out any time soon.
  • Sage and her teammates can stand on top of the wall while it’s created, letting you boost to a higher point on the map or on top of boxes that are otherwise inaccessible.

Ability: Slow Orb

Cast out a radianite orb that breaks into a slowing field upon impact with the ground. All caught in the field are slowed and make noise when moving.

Tips:

  • The slow field expands for a second or two after it’s thrown. During this time its slow isn’t as strong as when it’s fully expanded and you can hop over it with a few quick jumps.
  • Friendly players are slowed by this as well, so be extra careful where you use it.

Signature Ability: Healing Orb

Heal an ally or yourself to full health over a few seconds.

Tips:

  • This ability heals pretty slowly, so apply it to the necessary target as early as you can. If a teammate has around 50 health and you’d like to heal them, don’t wait until they’re in a fight.
  • Death happens fast in Valorant so don’t be too precious with your heals. If you have a target to heal, including yourself, don’t hesitate just go ahead and heal them.
  • This ability recharges after a short period of time, allowing Sage to use it several times in a round.

Ultimate: Resurrection

Target a friendly corpse. After a short delay, revive them with full health.

Tips:

  • The resurrection comes with a long animation which makes it easy for opponents to kill your revived target. There’s also a loud noise and a killfeed alert if you revive someone, so do it carefully.
  • If a teammate of yours got sniped, or otherwise killed from long range, and you want to revive them, consider throwing your wall up then going for the resurrection so that they don’t die on their way back behind cover.
