A user on Reddit, r/BlackOps4, has shared what appears to be the very first footage of gameplay from the canceled campaign mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, which released in October 2018, was the first Call of Duty game to not have a traditional campaign mode, instead opting to have three online-based modes.
Treyarch insisted throughout the year that they really didn’t have plans for a campaign and were focusing on an online connected experience for Black Ops 4, but many reports and sources described the campaign as being too ambitious and canceled because of issues with development.
On Reddit, a user has shared about two minutes of alpha footage of the gameplay of Black Ops 4’s campaign. The campaign, in alpha-state footage (meaning its not complete), had a very similar HUD to the MP experience of Black Ops 4. The user claims that the campaign and MP were supposed to be connected, and that’s why the HUD is so similar.
The gameplay starts by showing a message of “FIND THE AQUILUS CEO.”
Here’s the gameplay footage:
The user who posted this has not said where they got this gameplay footage as of now. He said he only has this footage, alongside an augmented footage of the engine of BO4, which he is not releasing at this time.
NPD has released the data for the 2019 year for the video game industry in the United States.
Their data has revealed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is the best selling game of the year and was the best selling game of December 2019.
The list for December 2019 shows Call of Duty: Modern Warfare at #1 with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order coming in at #2 for the year.
The NPD also showcased the best selling games of the year 2019, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was #1.
The NPD Group also revealed that Call of Duty has been the best selling game in the US in revenue generated for the last 11 years in a row, making it the best selling franchise of all time.
In addition, the NPD Group released the sales results for the last decade, and Call of Duty dominated the charts with 10 games in the top 15 for best selling in the US during the 2010 through 2019 period.
Call of Duty continues to withstand all the competition and generates billions of dollars per year. Activision has continued to release a Call of Duty game every year since the original title in 2003, and the company does not appear to be stopping.
2020 will mark the launch of the next generation of consoles with a new Call of Duty game as well. It won’t be surprised to see Call of Duty #1 this year again.
Treyarch is celebrating 115 Day for Zombies in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 with Double XP and more the Zombies players.
Here’s what’s live from now through January 21 at 10AM PT.
Live today through Jan. 21st in Black Ops 4, we’re treating Zombies players on all platforms to 2XP, 2X Weapon XP, 2X Nebulium Plasma, and the Tungsten Tripler offer in the Laboratory! Jump in, squad up, and slay the undead all week long.
More importantly…however, Treyarch claims on Reddit that a certain Easter Egg in Tag der Toten has not been discovered yet. The studio dropped a teaser on Reddit with a short video clip of how to find the new Easter Egg that has yet to be discovered.
Here’s what Treyarch has to say…
Ever since the release of “Tag der Toten”, we’ve kept a close eye on the community’s Twitch streams, YouTube videos, and Reddit threads to see how many of the map’s meticulously-hidden Easter Eggs would be unearthed. And you’ve done us proud! We were impressed (as always) with how everyone came together to comb through every inch of the Siberian wasteland in search of its secrets… but there’s one surprise that remains undiscovered.
While this one’s just for fun, it does provide an extra-special challenge to keep things interesting once it’s found. Of course, we’re not in the business of providing spoilers, so we’ll let our friend Samantha give you a tiny hint:
Let the hunt begin! If you think you’ve found it, remember to back up your claim with video proof or it didn’t happen. Truth be told, we’re surprised this one slipped under the radar for so long.
SuperData Research has released their 2019 report on the video games industry and the overall results from the digital market worldwide.
Their extensive research report is available to download for free and provides insight into the free to play category, premium games, and streaming services for 2019.
The report has revealed that Call of Duty titles collectively generated over $1.1 billion in revenue in 2019.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare generated over $647 million in revenue through the end of the year. The title released in October and, per Activision, is the most played Call of Duty game of this console generation.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s post launch microtransactions also performed well through the end of the year with the game generated $487 million in revenue in 2019. Combining those two, Call of Duty generated $1.13 billion in revenue in 2019.
Call of Duty: Mobile also released in 2019, and per Super Data, the title generated $116 million total in revenue.
Bringing AAA game franchises to mobile proved to be a successful strategy for publishers. Call of Duty Mobile earned $116.8M in 2019 a\er its October release, and Mario Kart: World Tour also launched on mobile. Instead of simply applying a franchise brand to a mobile game, these games truly mirror the feel of their console counterparts. Their success also shows that gamers are willing to play a wide range of genres on a touchscreen.
The industry continued to shift towards free to play in 2019 with free to play games generating a 6% increase in revenue in 2019 versus 2018. More companies are slowly starting to adopt the free to play model, bringing more players into their game universe.
2020 is a big year for gaming as the new generation of consoles arrive. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will be launching in Holiday 2020.
Treyarch has announced what’s happening over the holidays in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.
There will be Quad Feed for two weeks (yes, two full weeks) starting on Friday, December 20 at 10AM PT and ending on Friday, January 3 at 10AM PT.
Alongside that, there will be new 2XP Featured Playlists, including Infected and more coming to Black Ops 4.
2XP Infected: Final Stand in Multiplayer
The undead have taken over this week’s 2XP Featured Playlist with Infected: Final Stand! If you haven’t played this Black Ops 4-exclusive twist on the classic party game, here’s a quick primer:
Teams alternate between survivors and zombies each round.
Zombies have limited lives and win by eliminating all survivors within the time limit.
Survivors win by eliminating all Zombies or surviving until the end of the round.
Survivors choose from pre-set classes, have only one life, and can be revived by teammates.
The first team to four wins the match!
Have fun stalking your prey all week long, and watch for the arrival of 2XP Half-Off Heist next week.Pick-a-Weapon Bribe Fix
Last week’s update lifted the time limit on the Pick-a-Weapon Bribe in the Black Market, allowing players to unlock as many Bribes as they’d like for 50 Reserve Cases a piece. As of yesterday, we’ve fixed a bug affecting a small subset of players that prevented them from acquiring additional Pick-a-Weapon Bribes. If you experienced this issue last week, please restart your game, visit the Black Market, and all should be well.
Treyarch has released the latest Game Settings Update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 on December 10 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Unlimited Pick-a-Weapon Bribe

As a reminder, each Pick-a-Weapon Bribe contains a weapon of your choice in a Crate that also includes 2 Reserve items, along with a bonus of 5 Duplicate-Protected Crates for 15 additional Reserve items, all in exchange for 50 Reserve Cases. This bundle allows players to select from a collection of 48 weapons, including base Reserve weapons, MKII Weapons, Signature Weapons, and Mastercrafts. Which one are you unlocking first?

Removed the limit on the number of times a player can acquire the Pick-a-Weapon Bribe in Blackjack’s Shop for a limited time.
Treyarch and Activision have announced a limited time promotion in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 for those looking to get new weapons from the Black Market.
Introduced in an update in November, the Pick-a-Weapon bribe allowed users to pick the weapon they wanted by trading in 50 Reserve Crates. The catch with it was that it was only available once every 30 days.
Now, for a limited time starting on December 10, that limit is removed. You can get as many Pick-a-Weapon bribe as you want by trading in 50 Reserve Crates for a limited time.
Treyarch has shared a new update on Reddit on what’s happening around Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. The studio continues to do playlist updates, Double XP events, and more for the title.

Blackout Update: Hot & Heavy Moshpit + Duos Return
First up, Blackout news! After a few rounds of testing LTM moshpits and rotating playlists to keep wait times low across all regions, we’ve collected enough data to plan what’s next for Blackout. We’re happy to announce that we’re expanding the playlist selection on consoles today, and we’ll be keeping them in place for the foreseeable future. This selection includes:
Hot & Heavy Moshpit (Hot Pursuit and Heavy Metal Heroes)
We’ve seen a ton of requests for a Moshpit offering our two most popular redeploy modes, and we’ve been working behind the scenes to make it happen for our players. It takes time for the team to script, test, and implement new Blackout Moshpits, and we’re excited to launch these updates today. Props to the community for suggesting such a fitting title!
Thanks again for all your feedback and support while we’ve tested these new Moshpits over the past few weeks. While it’s not possible to please everyone all the time, we wanted to make sure we collected feedback on several variations before landing on a long-term plan. We never make playlist changes lightly or without real data, and we’ll always focus on what’s best for our global community… even if it takes a little longer than you might expect.
See you at Firing Range.
